Using Game Time Controller outside the US & Canada

Game Time Controller is built for North American power (125V, 60Hz). If you live somewhere else, it can still work — with two pieces of equipment most electronics stores carry. Here's exactly what that setup looks like.

The short version

Out of the box, Game Time Controller is US/Canada spec only. It is not a "plug adapter and you're done" situation — both the voltage and the outlet shape are different in most other countries. The steps below use a step-down transformer to solve the voltage problem safely, before anything else touches the unit.

The setup, step by step

This is the same basic approach used by other US-made timer products sold internationally. It adds two inexpensive pieces of hardware between your wall outlet and Game Time Controller.

Start with a step-down transformer

Plug a step-down transformer (rated for at least 300W) into your wall outlet. This brings your local mains voltage (typically 220–240V) down to the 110–120V range Game Time Controller expects.

Plug Game Time Controller into the transformer

The transformer's output socket is usually US-style already. If it isn't, a basic plug-shape adapter (no voltage conversion needed at this point) bridges the two.

Now receiving safe, correctly-rated power

Connect your devices with a shape-only plug adapter

Your console, TV, or charger plugs into Game Time Controller's outlets the same way it would at home — just with a simple plug-shape adapter (US-to-your-country), since the voltage has already been handled in step 1.

Test before relying on it

Confirm the ON/OFF and timer functions work as expected, and that your connected devices power on normally, before making this your everyday setup.

A note on timer accuracy: most modern RF remote timers, including this one, use their own internal clock circuit rather than relying on your wall power's electrical frequency — so timing generally stays accurate whether your country runs 50Hz or 60Hz power. We recommend confirming this yourself in step 4 before relying on it day to day.

Before you set this up

This guide describes a method, not a guarantee. We haven't tested Game Time Controller against every transformer and mains standard worldwide, and we can't promise it will work perfectly in every country. Use a transformer rated well above your device's actual power draw, and if anything feels wrong — unusual heat, smell, or sound — unplug it and stop. Game Time Controller is designed and sold as a US/Canada-market product; this setup is offered as a courtesy for customers who want to try it internationally at their own discretion.
